I use the Benchmade Griptillian. It rund right about $100.
They also have a practice knife that except for the blade is “the same”. It is $85.
I have been told by an instructor that D@ is “the best”, however, you have to consider, in my opinion, 3 things, Edge retention, corrosion resistance and just as importantly how easy or difficult the metal is to sharpen after you get it dull.
So, as an engineer, in theory CPM S30V steel is “the best”. Good luck finding a knife with that steel in a reasonable price range.
I have a D2 Griptillian, a 154CM Griptillian and 154CM mini-Griptillian, so obviously I am biased. the D2 is in my trunk BOB, the other two are in my pocket every day.
