I am currently starting my first AR-15 build. I am confused about bolt carrier groups. Can I place a full auto BCG in my gun and it still be semi auto? Thanks, Robert.

Comments on Gabriel Mobley appeal would also be interesting.January 12, 2014 at 4:30 pm #488BuckyBadger02ParticipantPaul and Jarrad, my questions for you would be can you explain steel case ammo and the myths and or misconceptions of this? What is your opinion of steel case with training and or carry ammo? I am looking at ammo prices for training and the steel case ammo is a lot cheaper than brass. Thanks for a great podcast and show!

January 14, 2014 at 5:30 pm #490JustinParticipantI listen to multiple podcasts but have never heard anyone talk about what to expect psychologically in the aftermath of a justifiable homicide. Is it common to feel guilt, suffer depression, or have lasting anxiety? If so, are there any methods to be prepared for those kinds of issues?
January 14, 2014 at 5:50 pm #491rmwjdwParticipantI am a ccw holder and have a issue I am wonder if you could maybe answer. I live in Minnesota. I have the Minnesota Utah and Florida ccw’s. Now here is my issue. The company I am working for is moving from Minnesota to Utah. So with my Minnesota ccw I am a resident but if I move to Utah I would be a non-resident and Utah would be just the opposite. So how would that work? Oh and I have had them for under a year.
January 15, 2014 at 6:08 am #492ironponyParticipantI would like to learn something about barrel harmonics from a reloaders and manufacturers ammo viewpoint. It seems to be of great concern among some circles so I thought I would ask how much this really plays a part in the bullet leaving the barrel and possibly chambering of the next round. Thanks.
January 15, 2014 at 1:16 pm #493wingmanchrisParticipantWith the majority of New Years resolutions being about losing weight and getting in shape…as well as continual pursuit of more training…what is a good hand to hand combat or martial art for beginners?
January 20, 2014 at 9:32 am #494jaredmclearParticipantI am finally going to get on board and upgrade to a crossbreed supertuck for my EDC gun (which happens to be a Kel-Tec…uh oh, 2 sponsors in one post). Can you please explain the pros and cons of the different clip choices? I will be wearing the holster with my shirt both tucked and and untucked, depending on the situation. Is the J-clip better for deep concealment?
Thanks for your response!!
January 21, 2014 at 8:02 pm #496ledbetterjkParticipantWith the SHOT Show going on I was wondering about Concealed Carry at gun shows. I have found most of the gun shows I have attended do not allow you to carry inside and I am curious to know why? I understand that in a lot of cases it is the city or owner of the property that has rented the space to the gun show that posted the no concealed weapons sign. And usually I just grit my teeth and go with it but I have always been confused as to why a gun show that in a lot of ways caters to the carry community would chose a venue that doesn’t allow legally armed citizens to carry? Does the SHOT Show venue allow for concealed carry on its premises?
January 21, 2014 at 9:33 pm #497wroboParticipantMy question is do you really need to buy fancy gun lube? Froglube, rem oil, etc. or can i use motor oil? It works at high temps in engines. Just would like to hear what every one has to say. Personally i have used rem oil for 15 years with no problems but i am just a hunter and a plinker but have been starting to work on drills lately. One box work out, etc.
January 22, 2014 at 7:42 am #500ghostimpalaParticipantIf the law is passed and we are asked to hand over our fire arms will you comply?
January 22, 2014 at 11:15 am #501The22ManParticipantHere is my question, especially for Good Guys and Gals.
What is the preferred name when addressing a Law Enforcement officer? No necessarily a friend or acquaintance but when meeting them on the street.Cop or Policeman or Officer or ?
I have heard you use Cop when referring to yourself. My father was in LE and insist it should be Officer.
January 26, 2014 at 10:58 pm #522SWMcAllisterParticipantAn elderly female recently asked me to teach her to shoot and to make a recommendation for a firearm for her to purchase. She is interested in home defense only – not carrying outside of her home. She has arthritis in her hands and she bruises easily.
My initial thought is to teach her to use a high quality OC spray such as Fox’s and a .38 Special revolver with a 4″ barrel and high quality sights.
My experience as an instructor is with relatively young healthy people who do not have physical disabilities, so on a practical level this is unfamiliar terrain. Any advice or assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Additional background if you have time for it.
My reasons for the above recommendations are as follows. A high quality OC spray will give her options other than lethal force and is something she would be willing to carry on her person at all times.
She has no experience with firearms, and I doubt she will avail herself to continual training. Therefore, the revolver appears to be easier to become proficient with than a semi-automatic. Furthermore, her arthritis may make it difficult to work the slide on a caliber larger than .22 which is definitely not an ideal self defense caliber. She is a recent cancer survivor and bruises easily due to the treatment. I am concerned the recoil from even a 20 ga shotgun could injure her.
January 28, 2014 at 10:55 am #525MFZuber3PDParticipantPaul you mentioned that we still have the Right against being Stopped without Probable Cause.
So RIDDLE ME THIS PAULMAN, why can you be stopped & your car interior visually searched at a Sobriety (or what ever) Roadblock? I would love your opinion because if it happens again, I will probably have an Issue with this invasion. -
